Around 31.27% students passed in the II PU-2 exam, whose results were announced on Friday. Around 1.94 lakh students had taken the exam. Of these, over 60,000 students passed. 1.53 lakh students were freshers.Among them 54,168 students (35.26%) passed.“A large number of students had registered for the exam as fee waivers were provided. As remedial teaching was provided to these students, there has been a progress in the result,” said a release from the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board. As many as 71,964 students had appeared for the exam to improve their scores. Of these, the marks of 41,719 students had improved. Most of the students who have taken the exam for this purpose are Science students who wanted to improve the CET ranking, said the Board. The marks of this exam will be considered for CET ranks.Of the over 46,200 students who appeared for Physics, 26,518 had a positive change. In Chemistry, 44,947 had taken the exam, and 31,974 saw an increase in mark. In Maths, of the 45,297 students, 25,477 saw a positive change. In Biology, 9492 of the 20,310 had an increase. Apart from the Science subjects, 21,729 students had taken the exam in English to improve the score. Only 6,937 managed to find the improvement. In Kannada, 783 of the 4243 students succeeded in getting a change. With this, the overall pass percentage in PU exams, with both exams put together is 78%. Of the 6.88 lakh students, 4.76 lakh students passed in exam-1 and 60,000 in exam-2. For freshers, the combined pass percentage is at 82% now. PU-2 exams were held from April 24-May 8. Exam-3 will be held from June 9- 20. There is no exam fee for students to register except for students seeking exam again for improvement and for private candidates. Students can register for the exam till May 26.
