The National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared the results of JEE (Main) 2025 Session 2 for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.), with 24 candidates securing a perfect 100 percentile score. While the spotlight remains on these top scorers from states like Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Telangana, the NTA has also withheld the results of 110 candidates who were found to have used unfair means, including forged documents and impersonation, during the examination process.
In addition to these 110 candidates, the results of 23 more students have been put on hold due to discrepancies in personal details including mismatched photographs and biometric data. These candidates have been asked to submit proof of identity, duly attested by a gazetted officer, in order to verify their records and enable result declaration.
Strict measures in place to ensure exam integrity
As one of the most competitive entrance exams in the country, JEE (Main) is closely monitored by NTA using a multi-layered security system. To uphold the sanctity of the examination, the agency deployed biometric verification, AI-based video analytics, and live CCTV surveillance at all examination centres. Additionally, 5G jammers were installed to prevent digital malpractice.
According to the official press release, pre-examination audits were conducted by third-party agencies at newly established centres, while over 1,100 examination functionaries and stakeholders were trained in advance. A central control room in New Delhi tracked all examination centres in real time to detect and prevent any suspicious activity.
Biometric mismatches and document forgery reported
Among the 110 cases flagged by the NTA, a significant number were related to forged documents, fake identities, and the use of impostors to appear for the exam. In some instances, candidates altered their identification documents, such as admit cards or ID proofs, to misrepresent their credentials.

In the 23 cases with withheld results, candidates failed to match their biometric information or were found with mismatched photographs when compared with their application forms. These students have been directed to submit official verification documents before a final decision is made regarding their eligibility.
Unfair means cases from both January and April sessions
This year, the JEE (Main) examination was conducted in two sessions—January and April 2025. NTA reported that during the Session 1 exam, 39 candidates were found guilty of unfair means. The number rose significantly in Session 2, with 110 candidates facing similar charges. This brings the total number of cases under suspicion to 149 candidates across both sessions.

The agency emphasized that it has zero tolerance towards any form of cheating or malpractice, and the withheld results will not be released unless the candidates are able to satisfactorily prove their identity and clear all discrepancies.
NTA urges candidates to follow rules strictly
The NTA reiterated its commitment to maintaining fairness and transparency in all its examinations. All candidates were informed in advance through detailed advisories about the importance of correct identity proof, biometric verification, and ethical conduct. Any deviation from these guidelines was flagged and dealt with strictly.
