Tensions are running high on both sides in the Donald Trump vs Harvard University feud. The world’s wealthiest and the most -elite American university Harvard has locked horns with President Donald Trump administration over a range of issues. These include the call for changes to the Hardvard University’s governance, hiring practices and admissions procedures. These demands add to the list that Harvard reportedly received on April 3, which asked officials to shut diversity offices and cooperate with immigration authorities for screenings of international students.
With both sides refusing to budge, slatemate continues. On Monday, April 15, Harvard University was hit with a $2.2 billion federal funding freeze after rejecting White House’s demands that on its part claim to be intended to crack down on anti-Semitism activities on the campus.

Tesla and Spacex CEO Elon Musk kind of joined the Harvard University vs Donald Trump fight. Musk ‘noddingly’ shared on Twitter (now X) President Trump’s post on Truth Social that said, “Perhaps Harvard should lose its Tax Exempt Status and be Taxed as a Political Entity if it keeps pushing political, ideological, and terrorist inspired/supporting “Sickness?”. He added, “Remember, Tax Exempt Status is totally contingent on acting in the PUBLIC INTEREST!”
Elon Musk also replied to Scott McNealy’s Twitter post slamming Harvard University. “No government—regardless of which party is in power—should dictate what private universities can teach, whom they can admit and hire, and which areas of study and inquiry they can pursue.” – President Alan Garber https://hrvd.me/GarberRespond347t”, said Harvard University in a post. To this Scott McNealy, who is the former Chairman and CEO of Sun Micro, responded, “And no one or organization on campus should be taking money from said government, nor should they get a tax break from the citizens who are taxed to pay that “private” institution. Defund Harvard.” Elon Musk replied to McNealy’s post using 100% emoji, which basically means that he agrees wholeheartedly with him.
Elon Musk also shared a video on the student leader Mahmoud Khalil’s deportation. In the video, HEMMER asks if Mahmoud Khalil be deported? To this White House’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Homeland Security Advisor Stephen M responds, “Yes he will, as will anyone who preaches hate for America… under @POTUS, people who hate America, who threaten our citizens… and who support those who rape and murder, are going to be ejected from this country.”

Harvard President Alan Garber in a letter said that the demands the Trump administration made of the Massachusetts university, including an audit to ensure the “viewpoint diversity” of its students and faculty and an end to all diversity, equity and inclusion programs, were unprecedented “assertions of power, unmoored from the law” that violated constitutional free speech rights and the Civil Rights Act. He vowed to defy the government, and added that the school would not “negotiate over its independence or its constitutional rights.”
Harvard University reportedly enrolls about 7,000 undergraduate students and around 18,000 students in graduate programs.
White House: Harvard University needs to apologise to President Trump
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters that Trump wanted to see Harvard apologise for what she called “antisemitism that took place on their college campus against Jewish American students.” She accused the University and other schools of violating Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, which prohibits discrimination by recipients of federal funding based on race or national origin.
