Reddit users across multiple India-focused subreddits report that moderators have been systematically removing posts and banning members who attempt to discuss the recent Pahalgam terror attack. The controversy centers on r/Delhi, where users say even basic references to the incident trigger deletions or bans under rules against “self-referential or meta discussions” and “incit[ing] drama.”

“So just to be clear. Posts will be blocked even if you simply post about them?” asked one user in a now-removed thread that merely quoted official headlines: “Pahalgam terror attack LIVE: Several tourists feared dead; Amit Shah leaves for Srinagar.” The post was swiftly taken down, with a moderator comment from “delhi-ModTeam” citing rule violations:
“Your post has been removed as it breaks r/Delhi’s rules. We do not allow submissions or comments that focus on self-referential or meta discussions about moderators, moderation of this subreddit or other subreddits. Any content that aims to incite drama which can harm the well-being of this subreddit or other subreddits will be removed and acted on by the moderators. If you have suggestions for moderation team, please send them via modmail.”
When questioned, moderator “IArnMohit” responded simply: “Read the rules maybe sometime.”
Users report this isn’t an isolated incident but part of a broader pattern. “Yeh bhi delete ho jayga jaise saare posts Pahalgam ko leke delete ho gye. On the Kashmiri-focused subreddit r/Kashmiri, users likewise reported censorship. “I am banned from there for sometime and I don’t even know why. Today I tried making a post and got to know I am banned,” one user complained about discovering a ban in that community.
