KOLKATA: Trinamool national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee referred to Pakistan as “vile handlers of rabid dogs” in a strongly-worded address before the Indian diaspora in Japan on Saturday. He is in Japan as part of an all-party delegation of MPs to take India’s stance on terrorism to the world.“If terrorism is a rabid dog, Pakistan is its vile handler. We must first unite the world to tackle this wild handler—else it will continue to breed more rabid dogs,” Banerjee said in what was the first detailed statement by a Trinamool functionary on Operation Sindoor and its aftermath.CM Mamata Banerjee had handpicked Abhishek to represent Trinamool in the delegation, which will be travelling to South Korea, Indonesia, and Malaysia from Japan. On Friday, the Bengal CM urged the Centre to convene a special session of Parliament once the delegations engaging with other nations return.

Do you agree with Abhishek Banerjee’s characterization of Pakistan as a ‘vile handler of rabid dogs’?
In his address, Abhishek called the Indian diaspora its “biggest asset”. “You live in India, you breathe India. I want you to be the nation’s foremost evangelists—proponents of India’s message in the global fight against terrorism,” he said.“Within 24 hours of the Pahalgam attack, a terrorist group known as TRF (The Resistance Front) claimed responsibility. TRF is a proxy organisation of Lashkar-e-Taiba, which is recognised as a UN-designated terrorist group. We are all aware of how Pakistan hastily attempted to dissociate Lashkar from the list. Moreover, after the air strikes, public domain images showed senior Pakistan army officials attending the funerals of the terrorists killed in the strikes.” Abhishek said.“Footage does not lie—it’s all in the open. I believe every Indian has a role to play in engaging communities and spreading this message. We are here to convey the truth—India refuses to bow down. We will not yield to fear. We have learnt to respond in a language that they understand,” he added.“The Indian diaspora wields enormous influence through culture, cuisine, music, and tradition. That is why our expectations from you are higher. Be the country’s most passionate proponents and share this message: India is leading from the front in the global battle against terrorism,” Abhishek said, “All our responses and actions have been precise, calculated, and non-escalatory.”“We gave two weeks to Pakistan, thinking they would take some action and bring the perpetrators to justice. India carried out air strikes after 14 days and neutralised nine terror infrastructures. This is India, firm in resolve and honourable in action. We neutralised those terror infrastructures without endangering a single civilian life,” he said further.Referring to the multi-party delegation he is part of, Abhishek said, “We may be from different political parties (in the delegation) but our purpose is the same. In our delegation, John Brittas, Salman Khurshid and I are from opposition parties, but when it comes to the country, we are all united. This time, we have come with proof. I want the people staying here to discuss the Pahalgam terror attack in your community. No one can choose their neighbours.”
