Assam Board SEBA HSLC topper list 2025: The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) has declared the results of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination 2025, revealing exceptional performances by the top-ranking students. The exam, held from February 15 to March 3, 2025, saw over 4.2 lakh students appear, and the top scorers have set new academic benchmarks for the state.
Leading the merit list this year is Amishi Saikia from Pragya Academy Senior Secondary School, Jorhat, who scored an impressive 591 marks, achieving a remarkable 98.50%.
Pragya Academy dominates top rankings
Pragya Academy Senior Secondary School, Jorhat, made a strong mark in the state rankings with two of the top three positions. Apart from Amishi Saikia’s top rank, Anirban Borgohain, also from the same institution, secured the third position with 589 marks (98.17%), showcasing the academic strength of the school.

The top three HSLC 2025 rank holders are:
• Amishi Saikia – Pragya Academy Senior Secondary School, Jorhat – 591 marks (98.50%)
• Saptarswa Bordoloi – Assam Jatiya Bidyalay, Noonmati, Kamrup (M) – 590 marks (98.33%)
• Anirban Borgohain – Pragya Academy Senior Secondary School, Jorhat – 589 marks (98.17%)
High scoring trends reflect academic consistency
This year’s result has highlighted not just individual excellence but also the performance patterns among schools and districts. With 89,041 students securing first division and over 1.68 lakh earning letter marks, the data suggests a substantial pool of high-achieving students across Assam.

Interestingly, while male candidates recorded a higher overall pass percentage at 67.59%, it is female students like Amishi who continue to lead the merit charts, reflecting growing academic competitiveness and performance parity.
District trends support strong academic ecosystems
Both Jorhat and Kamrup (M), the home districts of the top three rank holders, have performed commendably overall. Their strong showing among the top ranks points to consistent educational support and effective schooling environments in these districts.

HSLC pass percentage sees fluctuation over the years
A review of HSLC results over the past five years reveals a fluctuating trend in the overall pass percentage. The highest performance was recorded in 2021, with a remarkable 93.1% pass rate, when 3,97,132 out of 4,26,553 students passed. However, the following year saw a significant drop to 56.4% in 2022, with only 2,29,131 students clearing the exam. In 2023, performance rebounded to 72.6%, and further improved to 75.7% in 2024. This year, 2025, the pass percentage declined again to 63.98%, with 2,79,376 students passing out of 4,22,737 who appeared.
This year’s decline in overall success rates, particularly compared to the past two years, highlights the dynamic challenges in the academic landscape and the need for continued educational support and reforms.
