America’s First Lady Melania Trump has inked a $40 million deal with Amazon’s Prime Video for a documentary chronicling her life during Donald Trump’s anticipated return to the White House. The project, set for release in mid-2025, will feature exclusive insights into her daily life and responsibilities, with Melania Trump serving as executive producer. The documentary, directed by Brett Ratner, will include appearances by Donald Trump and their son, Barron Trump. Filming commenced in November, capturing the transition period, moving preparations, and the establishment of her First Lady’s office.
In an interview with Fox & Friends, Melania Trump described the project as a way to showcase “day-to-day life,” including the complexities of moving into the White House and assembling her team. “It’s day-to-day, from transition team to moving to the White House, packing, establishing my team, the First Lady office, moving into the White House, what it takes to make the residence your home, to hire the people that you need,” she explained.
The dinner that sealed the $40 million Amazon deal for Melania Trump
The Wall Street Journal reports that the deal was solidified after discussions with Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and his fiancée, Lauren Sanchez, at Mar-a-Lago in December 2024. Prior to Amazon’s involvement, Melania’s team had reportedly approached several studios and wealthy individuals, with initial offers starting at $10 million.
Melania Trump says the documentary is for her fans
Melania Trump attributed the documentary’s conception to the success of her memoir, stating, “The book was such a success, and I’m very proud, and I get so many messages and letters [from readers] how they enjoy the book, and they would love, my fans and people, would love to hear more from me.” She added, “So I had an idea to make a movie, to make a film about my life. My life is incredible. It’s incredibly busy.”
Financial details reveal that Melania Trump is expected to receive over 70 percent of the $40 million deal, translating to at least $28 million. The agreement also includes provisions for a short follow-up series.
The documentary will initially have a limited theatrical release before becoming available on Amazon Prime Video. “Prime Video will be sharing more details as production continues and release plans are finalized. We’re excited to bring this truly unique story to our global audience,” an Amazon spokesperson told CNN.
