CBSE Results 2025: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the Class 10 and Class 12 results for the 2024–25 academic session on May 13, 2025, marking the end of an extensive nationwide assessment cycle.This year saw a considerable scale in operations, with an increase in the number of participating schools, examination centres, and total candidates appearing for the board examinations.In Class 12, the overall pass percentage improved to 88.39%, slightly up from 87.98% in 2024. Both exams witnessed logistical expansion. In Class 12, the number of schools increased from 18,417 in 2024 to 19,299 in 2025, while exam centres rose from 7,126 to 7,330. Class 10 showed an even wider spread, with schools rising from 25,724 to 26,675 and centres from 7,603 to 7,837, indicating greater accessibility and outreach.Girls outperform boys across both boardsOnce again, girls outshone boys in both Class 10 and 12 examinations. In Class 12, 91.64% of girls passed, compared to 85.70% of boys, reflecting a gap of 5.94%. In Class 12, Vijaywada led with 99.60%, followed by Trivandrum (99.32%) and Chennai (97.39%). In Class 10, Trivandrum and Vijaywada shared the top spot, each scoring a 99.79% pass rate. Bengaluru (98.90%) and Chennai (98.71%) also featured among the highest performers.At the lower end of the spectrum, Prayagraj (79.53%) in Class 12 and Guwahati (84.14%) in Class 10 recorded the weakest performances, pointing to ongoing regional disparities.
Delhi region posts consistent resultsThe Delhi region, comprising East and West zones, performed consistently. In Class 12, Delhi West posted 95.37%, East recorded 95.06%, and the overall Delhi region stood at 95.18%. In Class 10, West recorded 95.24%, East 95.07%, and the total Delhi region achieved 95.14%.Outstanding performance by foreign schools and CWSN candidatesStudents from CBSE-affiliated foreign schools sustained their high academic performance. In Class 10, 29,847 students registered, and 29,745 appeared, with 29,320 passing — a 98.57% pass rate. In Class 12, 21,825 students registered, and 20,694 passed, reflecting a strong 95.01% pass rate.Children With Special Needs (CWSN) also fared well. In Class 12, 5,280 out of 5,668 students passed (93.16%). In Class 10, 8,795 out of 9,160 students passed, achieving a 96.02% pass rate.Thousands achieve top marks, but many in compartmentThe number of high achievers remained strong. In Class 12, 1,11,544 students (6.59%) scored above 90%, while 24,867 (1.47%) scored above 95%. In Class 10, 1,99,944 students (8.43%) scored above 90%, and 45,516 (1.92%) scored above 95%.Among CWSN candidates, 290 (Class 12) and 411 (Class 10) scored above 90%, and 55 (Class 12) and 66 (Class 10) crossed 95%.However, challenges remain. In Class 10, 1,41,353 students were placed in the Compartment category, up from 1,32,337 last year, accounting for 5.96% of all candidates.Performance varies across school categories, JNVs and KVs leadThe institution-wise analysis of CBSE Results 2025 reveals a clear performance hierarchy across different types of schools. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) and Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) continued their legacy of academic excellence, securing the highest pass percentages in both Class 10 and Class 12. JNVs recorded an impressive 99.49% in Class 10 and 99.29% in Class 12, while KVs closely followed with 99.45% in Class 10 and 99.05% in Class 12.Among school types, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) and Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) delivered top-notch results across both boards:
Independent schools saw good results, especially in Class 10, while government-aided schools lagged, especially in Class 10 with only 83.94% passing.Supplementary exams offer students a chance to improve performanceIn line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, CBSE has introduced a revised supplementary examination framework aimed at supporting students who wish to enhance their academic results. As per the updated policy, Class XII students will now be allowed to improve their performance in one subject, while Class X students can do so in up to two subjects during the supplementary exams. Eligibility for the supplementary examination includes students who are placed in the Compartment category—those failing in one subject in Class XII or up to two subjects in Class X. Additionally, students declared pass but seeking performance improvement, and those whose result was declared by replacing a sixth or seventh subject, are also permitted to appear. The supplementary exams are scheduled for the first or second week of July 2025 and will be based on the same syllabus as the main exams.
