Bill Gates has publicly expressed his admiration and gratitude for Warren Buffett, the legendary investor and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, following Berkshire’s annual shareholder meeting in Omaha where the 94-year investor said that he would step down as CEO at the end of the year. The Microsoft co-founder took to social media to share a heartfelt “Congratulations” message, emphasising the transformative impact Buffett has had on his life.
In a post on threads, Gates reflected on the “incredible couple of days in Omaha,” reflecting on the value he places on his time spent with Buffett. Gates stated that he regards Buffett not only as “one of the greatest investors and philanthropists of all time” but also as a cherished “mentor and a friend.”
“It was an incredible couple of days in Omaha. Every time I’m with Warren, I’m reminded how lucky I am to know him—not just as one of the greatest investors and philanthropists of all time, but as a mentor and a friend. My life changed the day we met,” Gates said.
“I’ve learned so much from his integrity, humor, and generosity. Congratulations, Warren,” he added.
‘His legacy will inspire generations to come’: Bill Gates
Recently, Gates called Buffett “one of the greatest CEOs ever” and “hands-down the most successful investor of all time”, as per Business Insider.
“He has built an extraordinary company in Berkshire Hathaway, and he’s done it with wisdom, integrity, and a phenomenal sense of humor. But Warren hasn’t been satisfied with setting an example as a businessman. When he decided to give his wealth back to society, he set an example as a philanthropist, too. His legacy will inspire generations to come,” Gates was quoted as saying.
Buffett and Gates have been friends for 30 years
Warren Buffett and Bill Gates forged a friendship in the early 1990s that has now lasted for 30 years. Both have dedicated decades to working together on various philanthropic initiatives. Last year in May, Gates said that he could have learned a lesson on success a lot sooner from Buffet.
“It took far too long for me to realize that you don’t have to fill every second of your schedule to be successful. In hindsight, it’s a lesson I could have learned a lot sooner had I taken more peeks at Warren Buffett’s intentionally light calendar,” Gates posted on Meta’s Threads app.
