SC collegium okays transfer of 7 judges from 3 HCs to ‘infuse inclusivity, diversity’

[ad_1] NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court collegium has recommended transfers of seven judges from three high courts, including four from Karnataka HC, to six other HCs to "infuse inclusivity and diversity at the level of high courts and to strengthen the quality of administration of justice".The judges transferred from Karnataka HC are Justices Hemant Chandangoudar, Krishnan Natarajan, Neranahalli Srinivasan Sanjay Gowda and Dixit Krishna Shripad.Though the collegium including CJI Sanjiv Khanna took the decisions to transfer the judges during the meetings held on April 15 and 19, the Advocates Association of Karnataka HC's Dharwad bench had on April 17 written to the CJI protesting the rumoured transfer of the four judges.SC sources said the consultee judges - B V Nagarathna and Arvind Kumar of the SC - were unanimous that these four judges were required to be transferred out of […]
